“Music... will help dissolve your perplexities and purify your character and sensibilities, and in time of care and sorrow, will keep a fountain of joy alive in you.”
― Dietrich Bonhoeffer
A graduate of Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, Susan has performed before numerous audiences over the last 30 years. As a vocal instructor of all ages, she has helped numerous performers overcome their fears and find vocal freedom. Former students have been accepted into numerous college programs, including, Berklee College of Music (vocal), University of South Carolina (vocal), University of Northern Colorado (musical theater), Florida State University (musical theater), Shorter University (vocal), and Reinhardt University (theater).
Susan took her first piano lesson at four years of age. By high school, she regularly accompanied school and church choirs. Impressed with her abilities, her high school choir director encouraged her to audition for college as a piano major. While she spent hours preparing for the audition, she started her freshman year as a voice major at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music instead.
Undaunted, she dove into her studies and joined Enid Katahn's studio when the professional pianist offered an invitation. Two years of instruction led Susan to accompany several college student recitals. And thirty years later, she still accompanies her student's recitals.
